Warriors 2 massacred.. again!
Our Warriors 2 team played their third IHSC Development division game on Saturday 22nd February, facing Leeds Lightning ‘B’ for the second week in a row.
Dressed players
Ben Briggs (NM), Luke Cadman, Corey Clough-Howard, Louis Feather, David Reid, Tim Lyndon-Belt, Andrew Hughes, Stewart Nelson, James Way, Jamie Thurston, Ryan Marsh, Stu Shepherd, Ivans Lebedjoks, Arek Koziel and Andrew Everson.
Summary
The Warriors once again faced an extremely strong Leeds Lightning ‘B’ team.
After losing 8-1 the previous week, the Warriors suspected the Lightning might be icing some A team players.
This was confirmed when Lightning iced their A team assistant captain, Chris Armitage - who scored 5 of their 11 goals - plus an assist.
Lightning also iced two standout players, Lewis Collins and Jamie Rooney-West, who delivered A-team-level performances, contributing a combined 2+2.
It remains unclear whether they were ringers or genuine B-team members, but if the latter, Lightning’s A team must be exceptionally strong.
However, Armitage, an undisputed A-team player, should not have been on the ice, scoring nearly half of their goals. In contrast, the Warriors uphold integrity, refusing to rely on higher-level players for an advantage.
As you’d expect, during the game, the Warriors struggled to break out of their defensive zone meaning netminder Ben Briggs had a busy night!
Despite the mis-match, Warriors’ Arek Koziel managed to score the Warriors’ only goal in the second period.
Final score:
Warriors 1 Lightning 11
