Awards Night 2024

On Saturday 28th September 2024 we had our third ever awards evening to celebrate both our team and individual achievements from the 2023-24 season.

This was held at The Backroom on Call Lane, Leeds.

Ladies & Gentlemen… Your host for the evening..

Tom Mallon

Most Improved player

The most improved player award is the backbone of our club. What separates us from other clubs is the three tier development pathway, which helps players to improve and potentially step up to the next level.

The most improved player award is in recognition of a player who has pushed above and beyond their limits, improving throughout the year in leaps and bounds.

They are a someone that has worked hard to become the best versions of themselves, with a hunger to learn each week.

Dave Reid

Adam Gibbons

Coaches Award

The coach’s award is an award that symbolises the players who are a joy to coach. The players that will selflessly put their team in front of themselves. These are the sorts of players who help create bonds within the team and display a positive attitude within the locker room.

Howard Barwick

Ellen Gallimore

Best Forward

The best forward is not always the player with the most goals or the player that can go coast to coast. It is the type of player that is the best at making a line gel and can amplify their team-mates’ performance.

Jared Weldon

Best Forward - Warriors 3

Chris Scampton

Best Forward - Warriors 2

Dylan Noonan

Best Forward - Warriors 1

Best Defence

At the other end of the ice, we have the best defence award. Behind every great forward is an amazing defence. They are there when the pressure ramps up. The best D can keep a calm and level head whilst orchestrating the beginning of a great play. It’s often a thankless job but everyone knows that without good D a team can easily collapse.

Simon Davies

Best Defence - Warriors 3

Luke Cadman

Best Defence - Warriors 2

Tyler Heming

Best Defence - Warriors 1

Most Valuable Player (MVP)

The MVP is recognition of the name who is always first on your team sheet. It’s the person who you know will be there each week without fail. They amplify the team’s performance and make the biggest difference on the ice.

Ivans Lebedjoks

Most Valuable Player - Warriors 3

Joe Quinn

Most Valuable Player - Warriors 2

Mitch White

Most Valuable Player - Warriors 1

Player’s player

Player’s player is the one everyone really wants as this is recognition from your peers. You could simply be the best player or you could be selfless - or just a great person in the room. Someone others look up to.

It’s a real recognition of the high regard you are held in by your peers and something you should cherish.

Heather McCarten

Player’s Player - Warriors 3

Jamie Thurston

Player’s Player - Warriors 2

Andy Giles

Player’s Player - Warriors 1

Chairperson Award

The Chairperson’s Award goes to the person who displays all the qualities we love to see from a player or staff member. The winner of this award contributes to the club both on and off the ice. It is someone who is personable, welcoming, helpful, great for team spirit/morale and enhances the mood in the locker room.

Chairman Will Gibbons and host Tom Mallon pose with the award which represents the highest accolade in the club.

and the winner is…..

Mitch White

Chairman’s Award

Club Award

The winner of this award was a no-brainer. In his long tenure as the club Treasurer, Ash Davies has been the backbone of Leeds Warriors, working tirelessly behind the scenes to keep the wheels moving. Thank you for all you have done Ash, we really appreciate you.
