Warriors 1 and 2 enter a new competition for 2024-25

Our 1st and 2nd teams will compete in the Ice Hockey Summer Classic in season 2024-25.

Our Warriors 1 team have previously competed in the Northern Recreational Hockey Cup (NRHC) which is a tough competition, with some exceptionally strong teams.

Last season, with the departure of some strong players, it was deemed to be more sensible to switch to a competition where the team could compete more effectively.

So the team entered the ‘Blood, Sweat & Beers’ Cup. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out in that league and the team exited the competition, filling the season with challenge games and tournaments.

The feeling within the team was that they wanted to get back to competing against the best recreational teams in the north and that the NRHC was the place to do that.

But, there has been a change. The NRHC and IHSC (Ice Hockey Summer Classic) cups have now been combined to create one larger cup competition which will take the IHSC name.

This year it will consist of 32 teams split into three divisions – Elite, Intermediate and Development.

Each division will be split into two groups / conferences with 5/6 teams in each.

Our Warriors 1 team have been placed into Group 2 of the Intermediate Division and our Warriors 2 team have been placed into Group 2 of the Development Division.

Warriors 1 will compete in the Intermediate Group 2 league against :

Hull Knights A

Shropshire Huskies

Don Valley Vikings B

Sheffield Ice Tigers A

Grimsby Trawlers

Warriors 2 will compete in the Development Group 2 league against :

Blackburn Buccaneers

Leeds Lightning B

Sheffield Blazers B

Sheffield Ice Tigers B

Each team will play each other team in their conference in a round-robin format and will play each other home and away.

The IHSC will run from November 2024 through August 2024 with the Playoffs being on August 30th and 31st at Ice Sheffield. Face off times to be determined.

The division semi-finals will be on Saturday 30th August and the finals will be on the 31st.

The top two teams in each conference make the play-off semi-finals where 1st in Group 1 will play 2nd in Group 2 and vice versa. The winners of those games progress to the final.

Let’s go Warriors!
