Warriors Cup - Summer 2024 summary

The 4th Warriors Cup took place on Saturday 31st August 2024.

This is an internal tournament where players from across our 3 teams are divided into mini teams, who then compete in a round-robin style competition. This results in 2 x semi-finals and a final.

The teams were known as the Maple Leafs (blue), Redwings (red), Blackhawks (black) and Rangers (grey)

Rosters:

At stake once again was the hallowed Warriors Cup trophy, built and donated by our own Jared Weldon.

As there were four teams competing, each team would play three round-robin games in total. Once this was concluded, the top team in the group would play the fourth in one semi-final and the second placed team would play the third in the other semi-final.

After the round-robin games, these were the placings:

1) Redwings

2) Maple Leafs

3) Blackhawks

4) Rangers

As a result, the Redwings would play the Rangers in the first semi-final and the Maple Leafs would play the Blackhawks.

Semi-finals

The Redwings beat the Rangers comfortably in the first semi-final whilst the Maple Leafs battled hard to get past the Blackhawks in an evenly matched contest.

The final would therefore be contested between the Redwings and the Maple Leafs.

Final

This was an extremely competitive and close final. With both teams trading chances and goals in the early stages. But it was the Redwings who gradually started to extend their lead and create an unassailable gap in the scoring. The Redwings took the win and the trophy! Congratulations guys.
