Warriors 1 hound out the Huskies
This was the first time the Warriors had played the Huskies on away ice. The previous meeting was in Leeds and was abandoned after the 2nd period due to a technical issue with the Zamboni which resulted in the ice being damaged. See the game report. The score at the time was 3-4 to the Huskies.
This was sure to be another tough game for the Warriors as they had quite a few players missing, with some forwards having to cover D positions.
The Warriors were without :
Lewis Pickering (NM), Joe Quinn (NM), Sam Cromack, Tom Mallon, Chris Giles, Ollie Gannon, Tyler Heming, Jordan Batty, Jamie Farrar and Harvey Galloway.
Dressed players
Andrew Hughes (NM), Ivis Homuts, Niks Kamaldins, Niku Ghaemi, Andy Giles (A), Mitch White, Dylan Noonan, Dzintars Jonuss, Chris Scampton, Simon Morrow, Matthew Gatenby, Ellen Gallimore, Adam Gibbons, Sam Forrester, Chris Blashko and Will Gibbons.
1st period
The game started with both teams feeling each other out. But it wasn’t long before Warriors netminder Andrew Hughes was called upon to keep the Huskies at bay. The hosts could have been up by a couple in the opening 10 minutes if it hadn’t been for Hughes.
The Warriors soon started to grow in confidence and opened the scoring on 12 minutes when Niku Ghaemi scored from a Niks Kamaldins assist. This was the start of a productive 5 minute period as the Warriors grabbed a second a minute later (Mitch White from Ivis Homuts) followed by a goal in the 17th minute when White scored his second - assisted by Andy Giles and Dylan Noonan.
The period closed with the visitors in a healthy 0-3 position.

2nd period
The Warriors were expecting a big response from the Huskies in the middle period and knew they needed to match them. Fortunately, only a minute from the restart (21 mins), the Warriors bagged their 4th of the game. Dylan Noonan scoring from a Giles assist.
With the Huskies deflated, the Warriors were able to capitalise. In the 22nd minute D-man Chris Blashko blasted a shot from the point to pick up an unassisted goal and in the 23rd minute Sam Forrester scored from a Simon Morrow assist to make it 0-6 Warriors.
3 goals in 3 minutes had swung the game massively in the Warriors favour and they now looked like inevitable winners.
But the scoring didn’t end there, as the Warriors racked up another 3 goals in the period on 34, 36 and 38 minutes.
Kamaldins got on the board from a Homuts assist, followed Chris Scampton’s first goal for Warriors 1 (assisted by Dzintars Jonuss) and Mitch White got his hat-trick goal from a Noonan assist which came straight from the face-off.
The period ended with the Warriors in a commanding 9 goal lead.

3rd period
The final period was a much closer affair, with the Huskies still fighting to get on the board and reduce the deficit. Whilst the Warriors didn’t have the same success as they’d had in the previous two periods they still managed to add to their tally on 47 minutes when Mitch White scored his 4th of the game from another Giles assist.
The Warriors were able to see out the remainder of the period to claim the shut-out.
Final score:
