Warriors 3 take the W on the road
On Saturday 25th January 2025 our development team travelled to Hull Arena to face the Kingston Reapers in a challenge game.
Having played the Reapers on home ice two weeks earlier and easing to an 11-5 victory, the Warriors hoped for a similar outcome at the Hull Arena.
Dressed players:
Kieran High (NM) Simon Bainbridge (NM), Dean Cadman, Brendan Hullah, Craig Baker, Freddy Monk, Gary Clough, Ash Davies, Phil Bradley, Jared Weldon, Jonjo Marshall, Charlie Tang, Josh Moss, Matthew Dudley, Simon Davis, Zach Huntley and Tomasz Molenda, Connor Brocklebank, Phil Pearce, and Sam Stokes.
1st period
It was the Reapers who came out of the gates strongest to start the game, and they were 1-0 up after just three minutes.
The Warriors responded to the early setback and began to dominate possession as the period progressed.
However, despite a number of good chances early on, they weren’t able to solve the Reapers goalie.
Reapers 1 Warriors 0
2nd period
The Warriors knew that if they could keep playing the way they had in the last in the first period, they were the better team.
Again they dominated most of the play, and Leeds’ defence kept the Reaper’s zone time to minimum.
Hull’s goalie however was proving a tough nut to crack. That changed when the Warriors tied the game - Matthew Dudley won a face-off directly to winger Ash Davies, whose shot finally beat the Reaper goalie at 33:24.
Reapers 1 Warriors 1
3rd period
Leeds needed to make their dominance count in the final twenty minutes in order secure a deserved victory, and it didn’t take long for the to take the lead, as Jonjo Marshall slotted home, assisted by Tomasz Molenda.
This goal seemed to take the air out of the Reaper’s sails, and the Warriors took over the game with three more goals in the space of eight minutes. Ash Davies grabbed his second of the night, assisted by Matthew Dudley and Simon Davies, Josh Moss finished a nice pass from Sam Stokes, and Brendan Hullah hit Leeds fifth, assisted by Phil Bradley and Jared Weldon.
Hull had no answer to this onslaught, and the game finished as a comfortable 5-1 victory for the Warriors.
