Warriors 2 prey on the Falcons
Having beaten the Falcons 5-1 in the corresponding home fixture, the team felt confident going into this fixture. But this was the first time our Warriors 2 team had travelled to Grimsby - and it would be interesting to see how they coped on the smaller ice pad.
The Warriors were without the services of : Jeff Hardy, Luke Newbiggin (C), Mo Lin, Stewart Nelson, Tim Lyndon-Belt, Adam Tomlinson, Matt Bolan, Andrew Everson, Dale Sunderland, Dave Reid, James Ryan, Josh Edwards, Liam Symington, Rich Guttridge and Stu Shepherd,.

1st period
The first period was a tight affair with both teams trading blows. Lewis Astill opened the scoring for the Warriors in the first few minutes, but the Falcons quickly pulled it back to 1-1.
Howie Barwick put the Warriors ahead again, with the assist coming from Chris Scampton, but the hosts pulled back to 2-2.
Shortly after, Barwick turned provider, assisting Tom Cokill to make it 2-3 Warriors as both teams went into the first interval.

2nd period
The second period wasn’t as even as the first period, with the Warriors asserting dominance. The visitors scored three unanswered goals - Scampton unassisted, followed by a David Gorog goal scored from a Ryan Marsh assist. Gorog also scored from Marsh and Corey Clough-Howard assists.
The Falcons hit back to make it 3-6 Warriors, but the Warriors continued to extend their lead. Cokill scored his second of the game, unassisted. This was followed by an unassisted goal from D-man Luke Cadman. Barwick followed up with his second of the game, assisted by Cokill.
Marsh got a goal with assists from Jamie Thurston and Gorog to make it 3-10 Warriors.
Whilst the Falcons got one back to make it 4-10 Warriors, Scampton collected his second goal of the game, assisted by Barwick. 4-11 Warriors.
Both teams scored one more goal to round out the second period 5-12. The Warriors goal coming from Sean Clough.

3rd period
The final period started in a similar fashion to the middle period, with the Warriors scoring three unanswered goals. This started with Astill collecting his second of the game, unassisted. Scampton picked up his hat-trick goal with an assist from Clough-Howard. D-man Louis Feather got on the board with an assist from Scampton.
The Falcons pulled one back to make it 6-15 Warriors, but Thurston bagged his first of the game, with the assists coming from Gorog and Pickering.
The hosts never gave up, scoring their 7th of the game to make it 7-16. But the Warriors weren’t finished. Clough notched up his second of the game, picking up the pass from Tom Gabbitas.
This was followed by an unassisted hat-trick goal from Tom Cokill. The Falcons rallied late on, scoring twice to make it 9-18. But there was still time for Scampton to pick up his fourth goal from Barwick’s third assist of the game.
