Final
The final would again be two 20-minute periods, but this time the clock would stop for each whistle. The Warriors opponents would be the Mavericks, a team Leeds had built quite a rivalry with over the course of the tournament.
In a tightly fought first period, both teams exchanged chances and Joe Quinn in the Leeds net pulled out some big saves to keep the score even at 0-0 going into the second frame.
However, it was Sheffield that struck first a couple of minutes after the restart. The Warriors were struggling to get their game going, but managed to tie things up at 1-1 with a goal from goalie-turned-forward Hughes.
As the game closed in on the final five minutes, it was the Mavericks that grabbed the crucial second goal. With Leeds pushing for an equaliser as the clock ran down, Sheffield struck again with the killer third goal, and that’s how the game ended.
