Warriors 1 defeated but Warriors 2 victorious

Last night saw both Warriors 1 and Warriors 2 face-off against their Cleveland Comets’ counterparts at the Billingham Ice Forum.

Warriors 1

Warriors 1 went into an early lead with an Adrian Garcia goal. However, the Comets came back strongly and scored 7 goals by the end of the period. The Comets’ shooting power and accuracy was on full display.

At the end of the first period, it was 7-2 to the Comets.

The Warriors knew they had made life very difficult for themselves after such a poor start but were determined to have two strong final periods.

The second period saw the Warriors win the period 2-1, meaning they entered the final period with an 8-4 scoreline. This was a cause for some hope.

In the final period, the Warriors scored first and reduced the deficit to only 3 goals at 8-5, but unfortunately the Comets restored their 4 goal advantage soon afterwards to make it 9-5 Comets.

Going into the latter part of the final period, both teams scored once more, making the final period 2-2 and the final score 10-6.

Shout out to our Player of the Night, Ellen Gallimore, who defended brilliantly throughout the game.

Player stats:

Warriors 2

No such trouble for Warriors 2 in their game. By end of the first period things were looking extremely comfortable as they dominated the play and were 0-7 up by the first break.

The Comets soon put a more experienced goalie in the net which steadied the flow of Warriors goals. But in the end, the Warriors ran out convincing winners with a 1-15 score-line.

Goals were scored from all around the team, including from Tim Lyndon-Belt and Kristaps Savickis who bagged early goals.

Special mention needs to go to one of our new boys, Tom Cokill, who picked up the Player of the Night award.

Well done guys.
