1st period

The first period was a closely contested battle, with both teams exchanging chances but unable to find an early breakthrough.

Warriors netminder Ben Briggs was in fine form, making key saves to keep the hosts in the game. However, in the 15th minute, the Ice Tigers managed to break the deadlock, taking a 1-0 lead.

2nd period

Trailing by just one goal, the Warriors were still very much in the game and needed a strong middle period to turn the tide.

However, the Ice Tigers had other ideas. The visitors struck twice in quick succession, netting goals in the 28th and 29th minutes to extend their lead to 3-0. As the game approached the halfway mark, the challenge for the Warriors seemed daunting - unless they could mount a rapid response.

Thankfully, the comeback began almost immediately. Just 26 seconds after the restart, Liam Symington found the back of the net with an assist from Stu Nelson, giving the Warriors a lifeline at 1-3.

The goal sparked hope for the home side, but it was short-lived. The Ice Tigers regained control with three unanswered goals in the 30th, 33rd, and 37th minutes, heading into the final period with a commanding lead.

3rd period

Having lost the middle period 1-5, the Warriors faced a monumental task in the final frame. They needed to tighten up defensively and focus on scoring the next goal to shift momentum. A strong start was critical, and the team delivered - just four minutes in, Captain Luke Newbiggin slotted home from an Adam Tomlinson assist, cutting the deficit to 2-6.

The middle stage of the period was a stalemate, with the Warriors showing grit and determination on defence. Their perseverance paid off in the 58th minute when Stu Nelson, assisted by Petr Dostal, found the back of the net to bring the score to 3-6.

Moments later, Howard Barwick appeared to have added a 4th for the Warriors, but controversy erupted as officials ruled the puck hadn’t crossed the line, despite the Ice Tigers players agreeing it had. Undeterred, Barwick got his moment of redemption, scoring exactly on the 59-minute mark with another assist from Tomlinson to make it 4-6.

The Warriors shut out the Ice Tigers in the final period, winning it 3-0 - a spirited response that showcased their resolve and fighting spirit.

Final score:
