Andy Giles - Coach

Andy started playing at 10 years old in Grimsby and progressed through the youth teams before heading over to Hull, where he captained Humberside’s U21s to the UK National Championship, and went on to play a season with the Humberside Hawks in the BPL and for the Hull Jets in ED1.

After a break of 13 years, and while living in the US, Andy played recreational hockey in the San Francisco beer league with the SF Ruins for a few years. He moved back to the UK in June 2020 and joined the Warriors a year later.

Andy is also one of the Alternate Captains in the Warriors 1 team and plays alongside his brother and Captain, Chris Giles.

"As development coach, my priority is to provide a framework that helps the players develop the basic fundamentals of the game, from skating to passing to shooting to positional awareness. It’s rewarding to see the improvement in the players and my goal is to help them progress to Warriors 2 level.”

Andy Giles - Warriors 3 Coach

Andy takes the development training sessions on Sunday nights between 8.30pm and 9.30pm, alongside Niks Kamaldins.

They prepare the drills in advance of each session and tell the team what the focus will be for that week.

This is a well structured session which focuses on the fundamentals of ice hockey - but it is also a laid back, welcoming environment where the players can ask Andy and Niks any questions they may have.
